Hello everyone,
Following up from our visit to Universal Orlando in December (2017),
which you can read about here, we returned two months later, last month (February 2018,) to check out the Mardi Gras celebrations and of course meet some characters.
Throughout the day we met Hello Kitty, Poppy the Troll, Doc Brown, the Mystery Inc gang, performers and puppets from The Secret Life of Pets, the Penguins of Madagascar, Barney and friends, Puss in Boots, and a Minion. We always really love the character experiences at Universal Orlando. Compared to Disney, they are so much more relaxed, less hectic and you can meet big groups all at once - such as all five Scooby characters or three Barney friends, etc.
Some random shots, including lunch at Richter's Burger Co.
We tried the special Mardi Gras alcoholic drink, and found it to be really good. I'd recommend it if they bring it back again next year!
We had dinner at the Bob Marley restaurant in CityWalk, which was a first for us. Being vegetarian we sometimes struggle with theme park dining, but I have to say, the Bob Marley restaurant was super nice. The food was really tasty, the service was great, and the atmosphere was definitely very chill.
The main event of the day was the Mardi Gras parade. I have to say, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was really impressed. It had a really good energy about it, was colourful and vibrant, and of course there were lots of free beads!
Have a great day everyone,
Dan.
