Hello everyone,
Today I want to share with you a short report on our recent trip to the UK.
Being originally from London, there wasn't anything especially touristy that we needed to see and do during our trip, besides seeing family and friends. So, we mostly just drove around, visiting people and places we know well, which was of course nice.
We went into London itself a couple of times and went to our usual places, such as the Disney Store, Hamleys, Oxford Street, Leicester Square, Harrods, etc - the kind of places that we like to just wander and browse through with no specific agenda, just taking in the sights. We did actually do one new thing on this trip, and that was to see the new Disney's Aladdin musical which had just started in the West End.
You can read my review of our experience for that, here.
Let's start with some photos from the Disney Store on Oxford Street, including some items you cannot find in the US stores:
Next, some photos of the Disney Store inside Harrods, including some items exclusive to that store (which are incidentally higher quality than the regular Disney Store stuff):
Harrods has its own Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which I believe to be the only one located outside of a Disney resort.
Whenever we are in London and go to Harrods we have to eat at the Disney Cafe there. I was actually surprised to see that they had changed the theme since our last visit. Before it had a generic Disney theme to it, but now it was solely dedicated to Toy Story, and more specifically Woody's Roundup. As always, it was a fun experience. The food is a little pricey, but it actually quite nice.
While walking around we came across the theatre that is currently playing the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play. We really wish we could have seen it - someday perhaps!
We passed by Buckingham Palace, and while I think over all it is an ugly building, the sunlight and the flowers made for a nice photo.
Another store we like to visit is the Nickelodeon Store in Leicester Square, for the TMNT merchandise! The day we visited, SpongeBob SquarePants himself was also greeting in the store, so of course we got a photo.
Also in Leicester Square is the M&Ms Store, which I was disappointed to see had gotten rid of some of the cool pictures on the staircase.
Over in Covent Garden, we stopped by the third and final Central London Disney Store to check out more exclusive UK items.
It is obvious by now that we love toy stores, so we of course had to stop by Hamley's on Regent Street, too. They had some cute new Steiff Disney and Wizard of Oz plushes, but sadly they were very expensive.
Outside of our London adventures, we also travelled to Oxford, surprisingly for the very first time. I found it to be a charming city, but insanely more busy than I had anticipated, and overrun with tourists for no apparent reason.
Finally, we had to have one last hurrah at our favourite breakfast place, Cocoba at Bluewater in Kent, on our last day. If you ever get chance to visit Bluewater, do, it's a super cool mall, but Cocoba is by far the best thing about it!
Have a great day everyone,
Dan.
