Star Trek Mega Bloks Review - Part Two

Hello everyone,

Today I am going to share with you my thoughts on two more of the sets in the Star Trek range from Mega Bloks. I previously reviewed the Transporter Room and the Klingon Battle Cruiser, here.

Let's start with the Guardian of Forever. The set number is DPH79, and it contains 111 pieces, including four minifigures. You can purchase this set on Amazon, here.

I would give this set three out of five. Honestly, there is so much wrong with it that it deserves lower than that, but the fact it contains four minifigures with some cool accessories (I love the tricorder!) is its saving grace. To include both Kirk and McCoy, along with two "red shirts" is actually pretty decent of them in such a small set. However, that is where the compliments end. According to both the box and the instructions, the little pile of rocks should match the floor around the portal. Mine don't.

The little blue lights on the side of the portal should both be the lighter blue colour. Mine are not. The set also contained four single stud pieces with the front studs, and omitted the 1x2 version I was supposed to get instead (it's a hard piece to explain, but if you are a LEGO collector or buy this set, you'll see what I mean).

The quality control of this set is so awful that, for the first time, I think I will actually contact Mega Bloks and tell them how bad it is.

Let's move on to the second and final set for today's review.

Day of the Dove is set number DPY05, and contains 97 pieces, including four minifigures. You can purchase this set on Amazon, here.

I would give this set four out of five. It is a significant improvement over the Guardian set, despite being less pieces. As with the Guardian set, this set contains four minifigures, which I think is pretty neat; three of them are named ones, too! As you can see, it isn't a complicated set, so there isn't too much to say about it. It is nice to have a small engineering section though, since we already the bridge and transporter room in the range.

Ok, that's everything for today.

Have a great day everyone,

Dan.
