Visiting the National Christmas Trees, January 2016

Hello everyone,

Every year during the festive season, the Ellipse in front of the White House in Washington, DC, lights up with the colours of the National Christmas Tree display. The National Christmas Tree has been an annual tradition in Washington since 1923, and one which Jon and I love to visit every year as part of our own festive celebrations.

The National Christmas Tree display has one large central tree, which is surrounded by smaller trees representing the states and territories of the United States. Usually the smaller trees are decorated with themed decorations by local schools and businesses from those regions.

Obviously there are 50 states, plus DC and the territories in other parts of the world, so that is over 50 trees. I won't be sharing photos of all of them as that would be too many pictures of basically the same thing, but I will share below some of the trees that had the more interesting decorations, and some other shots I took, including with the White House, the Washington Monument and varying angles.

Have a great week everyone,

Dan.
