TMNT Mega Bloks Review, Part Four - The Classic Party Wagon

Hello everyone,

In this review I will be taking a close-up look at the TMNT Classic Party Wagon from Mega Bloks. If you would like to check out my previous parts to this report, you can see them all in a list, by clicking here.

The TMNT Classic Party Wagon is Mega Bloks set number DPD81, and comes with 531 pieces, including three minifigures. You can purchase this set here, on Amazon.com.

There were no numbered bags, unlike most LEGO sets, so here's the finished product:

I would give this set four and a half out of five. I actually really love it, and think that Mega Bloks did a great job. They were really up against the critique before they even began with this one, for the simple fact that the Party Wagon is so iconic and holds a special place in many fans' hearts. The reason it loses half a point, and doesn't get the full five, is because I do feel that perhaps the outside of the van could have been decorated a little more. The two long sides are a little lacking, but otherwise the vehicle is really neat.

All of the doors along the sides and back open, in both the cabin and cockpit compartments, which is very useful and functional, and the roof comes off in two pieces over both the main cabin and cockpit, allowing for ease of access. The gun on the side easily accommodates a minifigure, and the front compartment allows for multiple miinifigures to sit inside. One of the neatest details is the picture of Ace Duck on the monitor. Anyone who knows their TMNT knows that Ace Duck is a very obscure character, who only ever made one very brief appearance - albeit on TV, on the Classic TV show.

I love that Mega Bloks included not just Michelangelo's nunchucks, but also a slice of pizza and a TurtleCom. The inclusion of April O'Neil and Shredder for the first time in the Classic range is great, and again, I like that April has an accessory - her videocamera.

I actually think that the Shredder minifigure is one of the best that Mega Bloks have produced. His cape is a real nice vibrant purple, and he really looks like him (as much as a minifigure can).

Michelangelo also has a skateboard, which as you can see in the photos above, clips to the back door for storage. There are also spare bombs attached to clips on the inside wall of the van, totaling three in the set, all of which can be fired from the gun on the driver's right side door.

Have a great day everyone,
